To me the interest here, besides the lighting, is the editings. Ader edit tak? I love the bronze/copper like skin tone. My guess is this was shot in the office with normal office ceiling lights, betul tak? Your editing made it that much more interesting.
This is how I do it. Firstly, you must be aware of your surrounding, constantly evaluating viabilities of the shot. If need be, move closer to the subject. Then shoot. Definitely better with zoom. Nowadays, with the humunguous size of my lens, I get more eye contact.
